Cocoa
Cocoa has a number of positive aspects as a food - in particular it
is rich in anti-oxidants.
This page ignores all that - and references research that
explores Cocoa's darker side:
- Isoquinolines and Parkinson's disease:
- Salsolinol in Parkinson's disease:
- Kidney stones:
- Insulin
- Theobromine:
- Addiction:
- Anandamide:
Cocoa contains caffene, histamine, methylxanthines, biogenic
amines and serotonin - other potential drug-like agents.
Also it has high levels of copper - another potentially-
problematical ingredient.
Some of the problems associated with chocololate are
associated with chocolate additives. In the links section I
include links to some suppliers of unadulterated chocolate.
The author is currently not associated with any of these
suppliers - not even as a customer.
